கட்டாக்கின் பலியாத்ரா குறித்து உலக அளவில் விழிப்புணர்வு ஏற்படுத்துவதற்காக கின்னஸ் சாதனை படைக்கப்பட்டது
35 நிமிடங்களில் 22,000 காகிதப் படகுகளை உருவாக்கி கின்னஸ் உலக சாதனையில் இடம்பிடித்துள்ளது பலியாத்ரா. கட்டாக்கின் பலியாத்ரா குறித்து உலக அளவில் விழிப்புணர்வு ஏற்படுத்துவதற்காக கின்னஸ் சாதனை படைக்கப்பட்டது.
பாலியத்ரா பற்றி
- பாலியாத்ரா என்றால் “பாலிக்கு பயணம்” என்று பொருள். இது இந்தியாவின் மிகப்பெரிய திறந்தவெளி கண்காட்சிகளில் ஒன்றாகும்.
- பழங்கால கலிங்கம் (இன்றைய ஒடிசா) மற்றும் பாலி மற்றும் ஜாவா, சுமத்ரா, போர்னியோ, பர்மா (மியான்மர்) மற்றும் சிலோன் (இலங்கை) உள்ளிட்ட பிற தெற்கு மற்றும் தென்கிழக்கு ஆசிய பகுதிகளுக்கு இடையேயான 2,000 ஆண்டுகள் பழமையான கடல் மற்றும் கலாச்சார இணைப்புகளை இந்த திருவிழா நினைவுபடுத்துகிறது. .

கட்டாக் மாவட்ட நிர்வாகம் மற்றும் கட்டாக் முனிசிபல் கார்ப்பரேஷன் பல அரசு நிறுவனங்களுடன் இணைந்து பலியாத்ராவை ஏற்பாடு செய்தன. மகாநதி ஆற்றின் திறந்தவெளி கண்காட்சியில் கட்டாக் மற்றும் அண்டை மாவட்டங்களில் இருந்து லட்சக்கணக்கான மக்கள் கலந்து கொண்டனர்.

What is Baliyatra?
Baliyatra made it into the Guinness World Record for making 22,000 paper boats in 35 minutes. The Guinness Record was created to raise global awareness about Cuttack’s Baliyatra.
About Baliyatra
- Baliyatra literally means “voyage to Bali”. It is one of India’s largest open-air fairs.
- The festival commemorates the 2,000-year-old maritime and cultural links between the ancient Kalinga (present-day Odisha) and Bali and other South and Southeast Asian regions that include Java, Sumatra, Borneo, Burma (Myanmar) and Ceylon (Sri Lanka).
- The origin of the nine-day festival can be traced back to more than a thousand years.
- The celebrations commence on Kartik Purnima (full moon night in the month of Kartik). This is the day when sadhavas (traders) traditionally began their voyage across the sea, when the winds are favourable for the boita (boats).
- The most popular items for trade between Kalinga and Southeast Asia are pepper, cinnamon, cardamom, silk, camphor, gold and jewellery.
Celebrations
The Cuttack district administration and Cuttack Municipal Corporation organized the Baliyatra in collaboration with several other government entities. Lakhs of people from Cuttack and neighboring districts took part in the open-air fair by the Mahanadi river.
Besides having cultural and historical significance, the Baliyatra has commercial significance as well. It is the time when businesses thrive since prices of products are comparatively low. The district administrator allocates more than 1,500 stalls for traders through auction. The fair is expected to witness business worth more than Rs.100 crore over nine days.
After the pandemic, the festival this year was expanded further. It was held in an area spanning 85 acres of land. It was extended by the government to help businesses and women SHGs to gain more profits. A special event was also organized at Barabati Stadium, where some 2,100 students made 22,000 paper boats at a single venue in 35 minutes. The Guinness World Record recognized “the most people folding origami sculptures simultaneously”.
